  5. The Sether board provides an Ethernet interface for STEbus, linking the
  6. commercial networking system with a key industrial computing bus standard. The
  7. option provides the means for companies to implement integrated communications
  8. links between office computers and very low-cost ruggedised single-Eurocard
  9. systems for controlling and monitoring processes and production. Widespread
  10. software compatibility is a key element of Sether; Arcom's use of the National
  11. Semiconductor DP839X chipset provides immediate access to a host of powerful PC
  12. network connectivity software including NetBIOS/OSI, Netware, ViaNet and
  13. PowerLAN. Arcom has additionally developed a port for the board to Internet,
  14. the Ethernet package for OS-9. This provides programmers with access to the de
  15. facto standard in the multi-tasking, ROMable operating system world, with a
  16. full implementation of the TCP/IP protocol, the FTP protocol for file transfer,
  17. and a Telnet virtual terminal interface for remote log-in.
